David Kane on Real Record Club #3 Lick My Decals Off,… on Lick My Decals Off, Baby!
Needle down, phones off, no talking. Doors 1:30, music 2:00pm. £2
Our third event will be on Sunday May 29 at the earlier time of 2pm, upstairs at O’Neills
pub Trinity Street. Spread the word and bring a friend. It’s going to be a mellow one!
This coming Sunday May 1 at 5pm we will be playing CAN’s fourth album Ege Bamyasi in it’s entirety at some volume. We will then have a short break for refreshments before continuing with an album that we think compliments it beautifully. Our motto remains: needle down, phones off, no talking but that’s only while the featured albums are playing. There’ll be plenty of discussion and friendly chat before, inbetween and after. Hope to see you upstairs at o’neills pub on Trinity Street, Cardiff. Doors 4:30, needle down 5:00. Entrance £2:00

Thanks to everyone who came to the Real Record Club’s opening night where time was successfully ring-fenced and listening to great music was the only thing going on. To my ears, played loud in a big room Beefheart’s Lick My Decals Off, Baby sounded profound and otherworldly (especially when clashing with the church bells outside) and Zappa’s Hot Rats was simply majestic.
For anyone who was there and is wondering, before our featured albums I was playing Kenny Burrell – Midnight Blue and Robert Johnson – King of the Delta Blues. The evening ended with Coltrane plays the Blues on the turntable.
The lucky winner of a copy of the extremely rare and sought after Lick My Decals Off, Baby has posted about his experience here http://bit.ly/ejpfKc
Thanks to Ashli and Grace aka Spillers Records for their support and for the T-Shirt prizes.
Hope to see you next time.
Not long now until our opening event – on March 20th we present, on vinyl and in their entirety Captain Beefheart’s Lick My Decals Off, Baby followed by Frank Zappa’s Hot Rats.
4:30pm Upstairs at O’Neills pub, Trinity Street, Cardiff . Needle hits groove at 5:00pm sharp. Entrance £2.00
